Sometimes life ends up just how you wanted it to be based on your series of personal choices. When that happens, you can be left feeling many emotions, including sadness and disappointment. Because it is difficult to feel like a victim of your choices, you can use these steps to change your life.
Don’t be afraid to look in the mirror. Taking responsibility for changing your life involves accepting your decisions, defining what you want to change about your life, and then moving forward with new decisions
At this moment, you are going to begin writing a new script for your daily life. Here are some steps to get you started:
Step 1. Make a list of all the decisions that contributed to your present situation. You are going to have to accept the past in order to live in the present.
Step 2. Find a method for loving yourself in your present existence. Forget about the reflection in the mirror. Look for great things about yourself and build on them.
Step 3. Make a plan for how you want to change your life. Include in the plan steps that you can take to accomplish your new goals. Part of living life one day at a time is learning to appreciate the value of incremental change.
Step 4. You are the bomb! You are taking charge of your life. It is about implementing your plans, following your dreams, and being the person you want to be. Call it whatever you want, but you are living your life.
If there is any piece of advice that can help you to pull yourself up by the bootstraps (or the high heel straps), it is that today is the first day of the rest of your life. Go out there and live it!
Stop living behind those excuses. Get in touch with your love for yourself. Focus on all of the wonderful things you can give the world. Your future is bright. When you get there, you will be able to say that there is exactly where you want to be. Make the incremental decisions that will get you there.
